Haven Farm is set in 34 Acres of lush, green fields, reedbeds and woodland, in the small Hamlet of Harecroft, West Yorkshire. We are approximately 10 minutes from the historical and scenic village of Haworth – made famous by the Bronte sisters, and 5 minutes from the newly opened National Cycle Route across the Hewenden Viaduct and beyond. Not to mention the Film and Photography Museum in Bradford.
The land is a haven for our flock of pedigree Lleyn Sheep, our rare breed, traditionally reared Oxford Sandy and Black pigs and most importantly, to our amazing herd of nine Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys, Cassie, Bonnie, Fliss, Twilight, Hilite, Topaz, Nightingale, Belle and Jetta!
Our Passion for these wonderfully gentle little creatures, developed in early 2006, although Helen had been involved in all things equine since the age of 5.
From then on… our herd was to develop …. Rapidly. All of our Jennets were imported from a ranch out in America, following a painstaking search, to select the Jennets that met our criteria :
1) Good conformation
2) Colour
3) Pedigree
4) Brood Jennet or show Jennet.
We also wanted all of our Jennets to come over, in foal, as we wanted to introduce new bloodlines into this country. Hence the process took a while, as we had to wait for the jennets to come into heat in order to be bred to the right Jack, then there was the 30 day quarantine – assuming all went well with their bloods whilst at the Quarantine station and then the journey home.
We hope you enjoy visiting our Haven Farm’s web site and if you would like to arrange a visit to see our girls and foals, please do not hesitate to contact us.
