Miniature Donkey’s have a naturally laid back, calm disposition, they make fantastic companions for the elderly, for children and adults alike, and for children with special needs.
For the elderly they are definitely good for the soul and an inspiration to all that meet them; for small children, they allow them to develop their personal and emotional skills, learning how to care for the little donkeys – how to groom them and keep them clean, make them a warm bed and how to feed them daily and have warm water to drink and to discover the importance of exercise. The little donkeys empathise with both young and old alike, the added bonus of course is that smaller children up to about the age of 5/6 depending on size will be able to ride them.
For children and adults with special needs or indeed with disabilities, these little creatures are the perfect size, they are not overpowering, and have such a gentle nature and adore being handled and having contact with humans, hence allowing child or adult to develop their own personal confidence and to discover their own personal and emotional feelings – hopefully allowing them to come to terms with and achieve their own goals.
Donkeys can also be used in parades, such as Palm Sunday or even in Nativity plays at Christmas.

These little longears adore attention and being in human company and if ignored, will soon make you aware of their presence, with a gentle push or nudge or even a tug at your trouser leg.
